How to Remove LinkedIn Connections in Bulk

LinkedIn offers no bulk remove for connections, and no screen that shows your whole connection list at once. For anyone with a few thousand connections this makes pruning genuinely difficult.

The manual method

Go to My Network, then Connections. Find the person, click the three dots beside their name, choose Remove connection, and confirm.

They are not notified. They will find out only if they go looking, because you will no longer appear in their connections.

Why it is harder than it looks

The connections page is a virtualised list: it holds only what is on screen and loads more as you scroll. Scroll far enough and earlier entries are discarded from the page.

It also re-renders after each removal, which often bounces you back toward the top. On a list of a few thousand this is what makes the job impractical rather than merely slow.

There is no sort by date connected, no filter by company, and no multi-select.

Decide who goes before you start

Pruning goes badly when it is done one profile at a time on instinct. Decide the rule first: people you connected with before a certain year, accounts with no activity, recruiters from a job search that ended, or contacts from a company you no longer work with.

A rule you can state in a sentence is one you can apply consistently, and it stops you removing someone you will want next month.

Working through a large list

Unpend loads your full connection list into a single table inside the extension, which is the part LinkedIn does not offer. You can sort by how long ago you connected, search by name or company, and see the whole list rather than a scrolling window into it.

Loading and browsing that table is free and unlimited. Removing in bulk from it is the paid part, and it is paced at 25 actions a minute, skips anyone on a protect list you define, and can be stopped at any point with everything already done kept.

Before you remove anyone

Removing is permanent and you cannot undo it. Re-connecting means a new invitation and them accepting it again.

Export first if the list has any value to you. A CSV of names, headlines and connection dates takes seconds and means a mistake is recoverable.

Common questions

Can I remove multiple LinkedIn connections at once?

Not in LinkedIn itself. There is no multi-select or bulk remove on the connections page; each has to be removed individually through the three-dot menu. A browser extension can work through a list you select.

Does LinkedIn tell someone when you remove them?

No notification is sent. They can find out by checking their connections, where you will no longer appear.

Can I see all my LinkedIn connections on one page?

Not on LinkedIn. The connections page loads a few at a time as you scroll and discards earlier entries, so there is no view of the complete list. You can request a full data export from LinkedIn, which arrives as a file rather than something you can act on.
